The Importance of Internal Hygiene through Colonics
Dental hygiene is a standard in this country to assist in maintaining proper health in order to prevent unnecessary tooth loss and decay. We brush and floss our teeth daily and yet we go to the dental hygienist every 6 months to have plaque scraped off of our teeth! If all of that plaque accumulates on our teeth and gums after all that brushing and flossing, imagine what is happening inside our digestive organs even if we are having daily eliminations!
Even if we are eating a “healthy” diet, people still do not fully eliminate during a normal bowel movement. By the time the food reaches our large intestine (our sewage system) it is no longer food, but waste products. With the SAD (Standard American Diet), people are literally “caked” inside from years of eating processed, refined foods, dairy, meat, pesticides, artificial additives, along with other harmful chemicals. The average person holds between 5 to 40 pounds of dried, hard, encrusted fecal matter in their bodies! Can you imaging why so many people these days literally feel like “crap”? So the saying you are what you eat is unconditionally true. There is more blood flow to the large intestine than to the lungs, so with all of these toxic materials inside our bodies, they are easily reabsorbed into the bloodstream putting undo stress on our immune system, tissues, and organs (especially liver and kidneys). This is known as autointoxication. Your colon is a muscle. This muscle is lined with a mucosal membrane that has a direct connection to the rest of your body. It makes sense to keep this area clean and functioning at an optimal level. Ideally, one should eliminate after every meal, however I have seen people who only go once every 3 weeks! Where does all of the waste that results from the ingested food end up? Through colonics, one can greatly improve their eliminations.
Our bodies will produce symptoms as a way of informing us that something is not quite right. Symptoms are, in essence, a built in warning system. In today’s fast- paced society, it is typical for one to simply pop a pill and alleviate the pesky deterrent. Unfortunately, most often, this only has a band-aid effect. Removing the symptom and not addressing the underlying cause can have recurring effects. Hence, people are often plagued with years of pill-popping, discomfort or burdensome disease.
Colon health experts, such as Bernard Jensen, agree that it is ideal to have at least 2 or 3 bowel movements every day.
Constipation is a state in which bowel evacuations are infrequent and difficult, or where the large intestine becomes lined with impacted, hardened feces. This undigested food and waste may remain lodged in the large intestine for days, weeks, or even months to putrefy and generate toxic substances harmful to your health.
When the bowel and/or colon gets impacted, problems arise such as constipation, hemorrhoids, diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, and as many as 60 other ailments. The signs that you may need a colon cleanse are there if know what to look for…
Colon hydrotherapy is a safe and effective method for cleansing the body of these potentially harmful substances which the colon has not be able to discharge by natural peristalsis.
The importance of a bowel and colon cleanse cannot be understated. The colon’s main functions are the re–absorption of nutrients and water into our bodies and the elimination of harmful wastes through regular bowel movements. Besides the liver, the colon (bowel) is the most important processing center in the body.
If you’re not eating not 100% organic whole foods (food with no bleach, dye, added sugar, preservatives, hormones, steroids, antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, GMO, etc.)… you have even more reason to cleanse the bowel and colon.

Detoxification is the process of clearing toxins from the body or neutralizing or transforming them, and clearing excess mucus and congestion. These toxins come from the DEAD PROCESSED FOOD we eat, PARASITES, pharmaceutical drugs, environmental poisons in our WATER, food, air, clothing, cosmetics, hygiene products, and work environments.
Internally, fats (especially oxidized fats and cholesterol), free radicals, and other irritating molecules act as toxins. Poor digestion, colon sluggishness, reduced liver function, and poor elimination through the kidneys, respiratory tract, and skin all add to increased toxicity.
A real bowel and colon cleanse can take from 3 weeks up to a year, depending on the toxicity and the size of the person. (A 60 year old, 250 lb. man, who eats read meat, white flour, and sweets is different than a 30 year old 120 lb. woman, who eats all organic!) A good colon cleanse usually is not just a single product. It is rather a procedure that may include the use of many different products, dietary changes, and a few days or weeks of fasting.
A word about constipation
One of the most frequent bowel problems that people experience today is constipation. Constipation is generally attributed to a low fiber diet and lack of sufficient water, which cause our fecal matter to become condensed and compressed.
Stress can also affect nutrient absorption and cause irritation of the small intestine. The large intestine absorbs minerals and water. When the membrane of the large colon is unhealthy (impacted), it cannot assimilate and absorb the minerals and creates deficiency diseases. The health of the entire body is maintained when the intestinal system is working properly.
A constipated digestive system is one in which the transition of toxic wastes is slow and the consistency of the stool can cause strain (which over time may cause hemorrhoids, varicose veins, hiatal hernia, or other mechanically induced problems). The longer the transit time, the longer the toxic waste matter sits in our bowel which allows proteins to putrefy, fats to rancify, and carbohydrates to ferment.
The longer your body is exposed to putrefying food in your intestines, the greater the risk of developing disease. Even with one bowel movement per day, you will still have at least three meals worth of waste matter putrefying in your colon at all times. On top of all this, your system can also become continuously self-polluting by the poisonous gases that are caused by foods you don’t tolerate. These poisonous gases can enter your bloodstream, irritating your organs and joints.
Alternating between constipation and diarrhea, or diarrhea alone, are also indications of foul matter in your intestines. And finally, the much more serious problems of cancer and other immune system dysfunctions begin with a toxic bowel.
A good colon cleanse can help restore the colon and bowel to a healthy working condition.
A word about diverticulitis
At the turn of the last century, diverticulitis was unheard of. By 1987 almost 80% of Americans have some form of the disease. Diverticula are saccular herniations, that protrude through the wall of the colon. These “bowel pockets” are almost always asymptomatic, (you can’t feel them). They are caused by a SLUGGISH constipated bowel. These pockets fill with OLD Fecal material which can be REABSORBED back into the Bloodstream! This can infect the ENTIRE body causing ALL types of TOXIC REACTIONS!!
Look at what can happen to the shape of a persons lower intestines. This can happen when toxic matter builds up on their intestinal wall throughout the years:
As the colon becomes impacted with dry putrefactive waste, its shape and function are affected in numerous ways. It may stretch like a balloon in certain areas, or develop diverticula (pouches on the intestinal wall which may become infected), or fall down upon itself (prolapsed colon). All of these colon malformations greatly impair your large intestine’s ability to function, which in turn places severe strain on your digestive organs and glands and affects nutrient assimilation and absorption. The colon is the body’s “sewer system”, and if not treated properly can accumulate toxic poisons, which are absorbed into the bloodstream. This in turn can cause many diseases.
Elements of a Good Bowel \ Colon Cleanse:
A real bowel / colon cleanse can take from 3-4 weeks up to a year, depending on the toxicity of the person. A real bowel / colon cleanse usually is not just a single product. It is rather a procedure that may include use of many different products, dietary changes, and a few days or weeks of fasting.
Things to remember…
Hydration. Proper hydration is key to optimal colon health. One of the main functions of the colon is water reabsorption, so if you are not drinking enough water you are more likely going to be constipated. Drinking at least half your body weight in ounces of water is recommended daily, though drinking too much water can also cause problems with releasing too many minerals and calcium while urinating.
Juicing. Drinking your greens is an excellent way to absorb the bioavailability of your daily veggies while cleaning out your intestinal tract.
Reduce Your Eating. This enables your body to focus on clearing out the toxins and old fecal matter without the distraction and energy output of digesting new foods.
Eat Whole Foods whenever possible! Whole foods (fruits and vegetables) are much easier for the colon and body to process, and will provide valuable natural enzymes that are alive.
Dietary Changes. It is generally recommended that we do not eat meat in order to reduce acid-forming dietary input. Also, we may wish to reduce grains, potatoes, yams, and sweet potatoes for 30 days after they have completed the colon cleanse.
Herbal Laxative. You need a formula to soften and break up toxic waste material while detoxifying cells, and help cleanse the liver and other body tissues.
Herbal Nutrition. As toxic sludge begins to release into your body, you need to bolster your system’s ability to detoxify.
Probiotics. Your intestines need “friendly” bacteria (probiotics) to perform all of their functions, including the suppression and elimination of pathogenic microorganisms, and also to help break down the sludge.
Electrolytes. Your body depends on the essential alkaline minerals potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium to remove toxic acids, maintain fluid balance in cells and the bloodstream, and control pH, hormone secretion, nerve conduction, and other functions. An effective way to deliver alkalinizing electrolytes is via juice of beets, celery, and carrots, or take a comprehensive supplement that contains all the above.
Antioxidants. As the intestines begin to purge themselves of old matter and mucoid plaque, large amounts of wastes and free radicals are released. It is prudent to take an antioxidant formula while doing the colon cleanse to help your system clean up these released waste products.
